Vanguard Short-Term Inflation-Protected Securities Index Fund is an open-end management investment company. The Fund seeks to track the performance of a benchmark index that measures the investment return of inflation-protected public obligations of the U.S. Treasury with remaining maturities of less than five years. The fund employs an indexing investment approach designed to track the performance of the Barclays U.S. Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) 0-5 Year Index. As of Sept 30 2014, the Fund's investments portfolio was valued at $10,004,511,000.
