Bimini Capital Management is a holding company. Through its subsidiaries, Co. is a finance company that invests in mortgage-backed securities (MBS) in its own portfolio and serves as the external manager of Orchid Island Capital, Inc. which also invests in MBS. In both cases, the principal and interest payments of these MBS are guaranteed by the Federal National Mortgage Association, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation, or the Government National Mortgage Association and are backed primarily by single-family residential mortgage loans. Co. refers to these types of MBS as Agency MBS. Co.'s portfolios consist of conventional pass-through Agency MBS and structured Agency MBS.
