Ocean Thermal Energy is engaged in designing ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) power plants and seawater air conditioning and lake water air conditioning plants for commercial properties, utilities, and municipalities. OTEC is a clean technology that extracts energy from the temperature difference between warm surface ocean water and cold deep seawater. Besides producing electricity, the seawater running through an OTEC plant can be desalinated using the power generated by the OTEC technology, producing fresh water for use in agriculture and human consumption in the communities served by its plants. Co. is also developing and commercializing its EcoVillages.
