Katanga mining is the holding company of a group of companies that produce copper and cobalt metal and that have copper and cobalt assets in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The assets are held through the Kamoto Copper Company SARL ("KCC") Joint Venture and the DRC Copper and Cobalt Project SARL ("DCP") Joint Venture. Co., through KCC and DCP, is engaged in the exploration, refurbishment and rehabilitation of the Kamoto or Mashamba East mining complex and the KOV copper and cobalt mine respectively, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. As of Dec 31 2009, Co. had proved mineral reserves of 137.6 Mt of ore.
