Monarch Cement is engaged in manufacturing and selling portland cement. Portland cement is the basic material used in the production of ready-mixed concrete that is used in highway, bridge and building construction. Subsidiaries of Co. are engaged in the ready-mixed concrete, concrete products and sundry building materials business. Ready-mixed concrete is manufactured by combining aggregates with portland cement, water and chemical admixtures in batch plants. The marketing area for Co.'s products consists primarily of the State of Kansas, the State of Iowa, southeast Nebraska, western Missouri, northwest Arkansas and northern Oklahoma. Co.'s cement is sold under the MONARCH brand name.
